In 2010, he was appointed a member of the State Bar of Texas Committee on Laws Relating to Immigration and Nationality. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

In 2013, he returned to San Antonio and opened this law practice with his wife, Shannon Salmon-Haas. He lives in San Antonio with his wife and two children.
